New York - first day and a half

Well our first day and a half has been an absolute blast. The hotel, Wyndham Garden Times Square, isn't right on Times Square - it's a half dozen blocks off - and it's been great. 24th floor was initially a little iffy for me since I'm motion sensitive, but no problems! The walk for some BBQ at Rub on our first night was a hefty, especially with another jaunt over to CVS to check for some one pound Reeces Cups for our buddy. Turns out neither of us are very good with "I think it's just a couple of blocks"....it was more like another trip down to the restaurant!

At any rate, we had a great sleep and then headed to the Yankees vs. Orioles, where we enjoyed a walk off home run for the win!

Yankee Stadium (walking up from the subway)
From the concourse behind our seats, I believe
My fat head in the way of the field!

Let's play ball!
Alex at bat (I think I'm a hot shot with the 'action' pics)
And the one I tried to get so many times - ball in action!
MrP and I - taken by one of our new friends who agreed to help us get Packers tickets if we make it to Green Bay - I think MrP loved her!
Nick Swisher getting "pie'd" after becoming the home game hero!

We finished up with some Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat Beer (YUM! MrP's memory was right - delish!) and Irish pub supper from The Perfect Pint. A little cookie dough & chocolate toffee Concrete from The Shake Shack for dessert and it's a night.

Thursday, off to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and in the evening, Wicked at the Gershwin!

  3. You have some FABULOUS pictures, Amber!! Love the one of Alex at bat and it is wonderful to finally put a face to MrP!!! Sounds like you are having a fabulous time - yeah!! Couldn't ask for a better day to watch a ball game! As for the "just a few blocks", it's a great way to wear off all the yummy food you'll be eating LOL! Look forward to hearing about Day 2 :)
