Sisterhood Challenge : DIGIS!

Well this Sisterhood challenge was a whopper! Use a digi =) I haven't used a digi in quite a while and this week, we have a sponsor - Bugaboo Digi Stamps - to help inspire. I used this gorgeous Silhouette - Butterfly Flowers digi, printed on Going Grey Cardstock.

But while one challenge was great - I figured three was spectacular...so I used the Viva La Verve Week 3 Sketch for February to create my Mom's birthday card. I also used the CR84FN Color Challenge #48, as the colors really spoke to me for my mom's perfect color combo.

The paper was a rarely used one - Lavendar Lace, plus some Certainly Celery and, of course, Going Grey. I outlined the butterflies and edge of the inner circle with a shimer pen, crimped the banner panel (see A - I wasn't lying - I pulled out my crimper thanks to your inspiration!), and added some bling for extra shine. These are always my go-to colors for any creation for my mom, so it was perfect timing with her birthday coming up next month.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! Don't forget to check out The Sisterhood of Crafters' latest Digi challenge & link up your awesome digi works of art for a chance to win the Sponsor's
prize  - 7 images (or $21 worth if you choose some smaller digis!) Thanks Bugaboo for such fabulous digis to work with =)

Mojo 227 : happy birthday

It's my sister's 29th birthday on Saturday, so I thought I should get a card whipped up for her (last minute - that's how I roll lately!) After my 10K this morning (but before my 2 hours of snowboarding make up lessons), I pulled together a little mojo for this card. I just haven't been in any sort of groove lately, so even this simple card was a feat! Thankfully, this fabulous Mojo Monday 227 Sketch was a pretty simple one.

This card just called for me to use some of my Berry Bliss paper that's been kept for what seems like AGES (pretty sure it has been retired for quite a while) and one of my fave Verve birthday sentiments from Hope Blooms.

I hope to get into a better stamping routine soon, but life's been busy and it seems I'll be down to the wire on a valentine for MrP (so he may end up getting the Hugs card anyways - doesn't matter - it's right up his alley anyways for non-frilly).

As a bonus, I did just finish (officially) my snowboarding lessons today with the make up class(es), so I'm super pumped and ready to try a few other hills. Hopefully we'll get out to Jasper to use the lift passes that I won from my lessons!

Thanks for stopping by - have a wonderful week. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some good news =)

VLV January 2012 Wk 4 Sketch : Hugs

The last of the Viva La Verve challenges for January - and I love the CAS requirement. It's such a nice change for me - and one that I really have come to love lately since I find myself trying to hard to go all out.

This card used Verve's Love Notes, which I didn't even realize the Valentines value of until I was over at Marisa's blog earlier today (apparently everyone else has, as it's sold out!) Was really inspired by THIS card. Anyways, this was what I came up with....perfect to give to MrP or one of my family members (since he's seen it now, I suspect this will be going to someone else). Have a wonderful weekend!

VLV January 2012 Wk 2 Sketch : Happy Birthday, Marisa!

Now that the recipient finally has this card, I figured I could post it =) This was Marisa's birthday card that I sent earlier this month (albeit late since I had been obsessed with using a certain sentiment that we both love - the Happy Birthday Plain Jane from Verve. For the life of me, I've searched high and low for it and still haven't found it, so I placed my new order today.

The sketch was a fabulous one that Andrea came up with - January's VLV Week 2. It was challenging for me, but I think it worked. I knew I could include some green since we're both lovers it. =) A seam binding bow, some half pearls, a button, twine, nesties and rhinestones, plus embossing and edges from a recently purchased MFT Open Bracket Border and this card was done!

I survived my snowboard lesson last night....and signed up for another half marathon - the Edmonton Police Foundation Half Marathon on April 29th. Guess it'll be a good way to celebrate turning 31 just five days before =)

Plus then I'll have a second half marathon out of the way in time to start concentrating on cycling for my 2012 MS Bike Tour. Oh the fun to be had this spring/summer!
