Stars : Sisterhood Challenge

The challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters is Stars...so I'm making this card the start today....with stars popped up on front and stars embossed into the Chocolate Chip panels. I finally used some of my fun ribbon that I've had for ages, but never seem to use...figured it worked close enough to the Baja Breeze that I could justify it's use ;)

The sketch is a fun one from Viva La Verve June Week 1 and I kept it pretty true to the sketch. Some people are great about taking liberties with layouts, but I'm such a rule follower that I struggle with originality in that respect.

I figured the sentiment would work for my sister in law's upcoming anniversary since the size of the card falls more into my 'hand delivery' category. I love the relationship that she and my brother in law have and I think she'll appreciate the sentiment, too. My nephew, their son, is a complete sweetheart and I'm sure it's thanks to his awesome parents.

I have a feeling the Stars challenge will be filled with Fourth of July submissions....and I can't wait to see everyone's creations starring.....Stars! Get over to The Sisterhood to get in on the challenge!

Happy Birthday : Mojo Monday 232

Using the fabulous Mojo Monday Sketch 232, I pulled together a little Birthday goodness for my favorite St. Patrick's Day baby, Moe! Apparently I never posted about it. LOL! In my attempt to wait until she got it, I completely forgot to post the card, it seems. What a moron I am!

The color combo of Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi, Certainly celery and Goin Gray must have been a challenge because I'm not sure how I would've come up with that beauty :)

I do know that this was the first (and sadly only) inking up of the fabulous Verve Shamrocks from the Lucky You set! So much for my 'more using, less collecting' plan for 2012. What's that saying about "the best laid plans"?! :)

Inspired by the Mojo Monday Sketch 243, I created this card for MrP's birthday at the end of May. I love the combinaton of black and kraft...and coincidentally, I had a little bit of old designer series paper that worked into the equation along with some twine (which is barely visable). MrP liked it, so I figure it's a win :)

How has your week been? I've been keeping busy as always - cycling, running and attempting to keep on top of the housework. I have to say, though, I do really miss my two Fridays off each month. It's been three months and I'm still no further ahead on getting my home in order.

Oh well...I'll have time in the winter when it's cold and I don't want to be outside!

Happy Wednesday, everyone :)

Circles: Sisterhood Challenge

With a little inspiration from the Mojo Monday 245 sketch, I got my Sisterhood of Crafters challenge whipped up in a jiffy! The challenge? Use at least two circles on your creation. Well I've got circles galore! I created a background using Verve's Happy Hello, which was mounted on kiwi, then put on my navy base. A debossed layer of bashful blue (with dots, of course), and a layered Loopy Bloom with felt leaves and it was complete!

May have to add some bling to that sentiment...

I used the colors in the color Q challenge cQc#141 for my combo and I thought it would be perfect for a manly card...but then I added the flower, so I'm not sure how manly this card is anymore... :)

I managed to complete over 3/4 of the MS Bike Tour on the weekend, no thanks to the brutal weather conditions. Saturday was 93kms of wonderfully alternating bits of sun and overcast. Sunday was another story. Apparently, the worst weather they've had in the 23 years of running the tour.

It was a mix of torrential downpour, moderate rain and winds with an average of 37km/hr, gusting to 50km/h for Sunday's ride...and a little hail tossed in momentarily for good measure. It was MISERABLE. LOTS of people dropped out at the first checkstop, more at the second and a bunch at lunch when they called in buses to haul people back to Nisku. We decided that we just wanted to skip the nasty hill so we got dropped off at the first checkstop after lunch and rode for about 8kms before it seemed dangerous and we finally waved the white flag. Three of our 20 team members actually finished the ride...I wasn't one of them, but I'm okay with that, having done over 3/4 of the ride. I finally rode the entire first day (bike repair & road paving making that impossible the last two years), so I was happy. LOL Beauty Bike and I are becoming fast friends!

A little under two weeks until I join some fabulous ladies for Starbucks 5K Women's Run in Calgary...and feast at Charcut. YUM! So much more fun to look forward to :)
