Oh Scrap : Sisterhood Challenge

Well it's been a while since I posted (lots of personal stuff going on), but I wanted to at least be sure to post the latest 'scrap' card that I made. Another card for one of our newly broke out trainees.

I often use layers with paper that's been repurposed...this was no exception. Every one of my layers was a repurpose! I've taken a pic of the back of the first layer to show you what I mean. Do you make the most of your scraps?

Let us see your scrap creations over at The Sisterhood of Crafters!

It's All About The Boys : Sisterhood Challenge

This week's challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters is a male specific card. You know...Father's Day coming up and all :)

This was the card I made for MrP for his birthday at the end of May. He said he thought it was the nicest card I'd ever made. Can't remember if that was qualified with "for me" or not, but I definitely didn't think it was as spectacular as he did. I guess he's even more simple when it comes to CAS cards.

My second card was a baby card for some friends who had their first child at the end of May. He's already got more hair than his Daddy! I included a little gift card for them to find something they need, as they're a three hour drive to get to, but I hope to visit soon.

Finally, my last card was yet another card for one of my latest trainees who's now all 'growed up', as I tease them. Looks like I have another two of these cards to make. Maybe I'll have an evening of just card making coming up!

Thanks for stopping by - and be sure to check out what the other Sisters have been up to. I know Dar, Lisa and Micki have got some beauties. Lisa's creation in particular.....can I just say....WOW! Beerlicious :)

Congrats You Did It!

Well in another attempt at the Sisterhood's challenge this week, I checked out the Mojo Monday Sketch 294 for inspiration and created this orange-filled card for my second trainee to break out, which happened on Saturday. He's a favorite, as well, so I was eager to create the card in his favorite color, orange. I kept the girly stuff to a minimum, as the sentiment is a little on the swirly side.

A very CAS card - and I can't wait to present it tomorrow. It must be similar to the feelings parents have - I'm very proud. :)

Say It Loud : Sisterhood Challenge

Wow! I just realized that I didn't actually post this...and I am the one hosting this challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters. Make a card or project using only a sentiment, no images or pictures. At first, I thought this wasn't going to be too hard because I had great sentiments that I absolutely adore. Turns out, using NO other images or pictures was tough. I'd have a great background in my head, then realize that was stamping images and redouble my efforts. I guess even with that in mind, I cheated a bit because I had two sentiments.

What do you think?

Flower Power : Sisterhood Challenge

This time around, the challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters happens to be Flower Power - use at least one flower on your creation. Well, I've used a few...one that's dimensional and more of the same that aren't, plus a wrapped bundle of beauties from the Verve One Person set.

I went with one of my mom's favorite color combinations...which I think I use for pretty well every card I make for her. The green this time was mellow moss (it's often certainly celery), plus perfect plum, which is her favorite color.

The sketch was inspired by the Mojo Monday 292 sketch, which I think is pretty obvious. LOL

Let's see your flower-filled creations :)
Head over to The Sisterhood of Crafters & share your floral beauties!

Happy Easter : Sisterhood Challenge

Well this is waaaaay late now, but this was my Easter creation for The Sisterhood of Crafters' Spring and Easter Challenge.
The image was a QKR Stampede called Happy Duckling. Isn't it the cutest?!

Thanks for stopping by!

Anything Goes : Sisterhood Challenge

The challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters this week is.....anything goes! Should make for a fun assortment of creations for our viewing pleasure.

For me, I needed a card for one of the guys at my office who was my first trainee to break out (he's now able to work by himself on job sites). I was like a proud parent that day! This was the card I created for him...pretty clean and simple with just a ribbon and some glitter along the edges of the medium stars.

Not sure what has happened to my brain lately, as I keep forgetting to actually post my pics, despite having completed them quite a while ago.

Anyways, the challenge is up until Sunday, so head over to The Sisterhood of Crafters for some Anything Goes fun :)

Furry Friends : Sisterhood Challenge

So I just discovered my past Sisterhood challenge didn't post. Guess I'll edit that and post tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the latest challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters - a creation with an animal on it! I chose to use a couple of adorable images that always inspire me to color (which I really need to practice).

Coincidentally, both are for friends/family who have recently lost pets, hence the "hang in there" sentiment, which I thought worked for the monkey and the heavy-headed fuzzball donkey.

The sketch I used for the donkey card was this week's Mojo Monday 288 Sketch in a combination of Basic Grey, Bashful Blue and Whisper White.

This time, I used Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 430 and Color Challenge 420, though I didn't have Pool Party, so I went with something I did have.

Head over to the Sisterhood to show us your Furry Friends :)

I have just under three more weeks until my next half marathon and I am pumped! I've also been doing some snowboarding lately and things have been coming together nicely. MrP says the change from last year to this year is remarkable and it makes him almost want to try snowboarding since I make it look seamless. I think he's blowing smoke :)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Green with Envy : Sisterhood Challenge

I'm hosting today's challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters...and it's a favorite. Use green as the main color. Wait....use my favorite color as the basis of a card?! Done and done!

I actually have always been wanting to try the negative die technique, so I gave it a whirl for this CAS creation. I think it will work for a birthday card for a friend :)

Training for my next half is coming along nicely (happy to report I've been doing the hill training that I'm hoping will improve this race over last year's results). Looks like our weather is dropping down to some cooler stuff for the next few days, but I'm hoping for some nice white stuff at the little local ski hill so I can enjoy myself on Friday night!

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the rest of the Sister's creations!

Happy Birthday : Sisterhood Challenge

For the Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge this time around, we had birthday creations. I know I have my mom's birthday next month, so I decided to get a head start.

Using her favorite color as a base (purple), I went with some of this great Basic Grey Wisteria paper that I had yet to cut up and a layout from SCS. Other than my sponge being apparently a little grubby (which resulted in more of a peachy color than the light purple), I was happy with how this CAS creation turned out. I hope she likes it, too.

The sentiment stamps are both Verve, of course :)

Over the weekend, we headed down to Calgary for a sweet wine tasting at a fabulous wine shop (Bin 905) with some friends, then Saturday it was out to Lake Louise for some time on the skis/snowboards. What a blast! I definitely notice a difference in my ability from when I started last year.

Anyways, head over to The Sisterhood of Crafters to show us your Birthday crafts!

Thank You : Sisterhood Challenge

Well this time around at The Sisterhood of Crafters, we have the theme of Thank You for our challenge. I actually managed two cards - both pretty CAS.

I used the Viva La Verve February Week 2 sketch for inspiration, as well as the photo that Maureen provided to inspire. I went with Rich Razzleberry instead of a more pink, though. I kept with the Verve sentiment and an unused SU! image.

On the second card, I used my as yet unloved PTI dies and stamps for Wonderful Words and Wonderful Words Additions. Again, very clean and simple.

I finished my third half marathon - The Hypothermic Half - on Sunday, so it's been pretty casual around here the last couple of days. I have my massage today and I cannot wait!!

While I was initially very frustrated with my Garmin not turning on before the run, I decided to do a karma run - no pace, no assigned breaks, and came within a minute and a half of my personal best. YAY!

Again, I hope to make more time to blog surf and create....but it would definitely help if my work would fix their internet so it didn't take ages for images to load.....just saying ;) Yeah, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be working! HAHA

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Head over and show us what you've got for the Thank You challenge

From the Heart : Sisterhood Challenge

This week's challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters is From the Heart (meaning your creation must have a heart on it). I took the opportunity to get started on my aunt's birthday card, as I will be flying out to see her this weekend for my annual trip. I also used the Mojo Monday Sketch 277 for the layout inspiration.

Some of the new Raspberry Ripple and Vanilla made this card simple, yet lovely, I think. How about you?
We just enjoyed a weekend in Jasper with friends...and I have to say, I felt like a champion. My snowboarding skills felt like they were actually coming together quite well again....and it looks like we'll take a trip to Lake Louise in February for some fun on the hill. Can't wait!

Winter : Sisterhood Challenge

The first Sisterhood of Crafters challenge for 2013 is a Winter Themed card or project. I figured since I didn't send out any Christmas cards, maybe I'd use this as a chance to catch some of my friends while it's still cold out :)

Loosely basing my card on a truly inspired card by Maureen which I received for Christmas a year or two ago, I created this simple card with some Verve and PTI goodies, as well as SU! ribbon. The snowflake is some Michael's adhesive shimmery paper.

I quite like how it turned out :) It's been a busy start to the year, but I'm really going to try to at a bare minimum, participate in all of the Sisterhood challenges. Hopefully I can find time and mojo to do a little more creating.....now if only I could get some cleaning and organizing mojo, too..that room is a DISASTER!

Check out The Sisterhood and show us your wintery creation!
