I just love creating a card from a sketch. It's so easy when it's all there, laid out for you in black & white (or in the case of Verve, in gorgeous color) Often times, though, I find myself trying to use the colors from the actual sketch!
Paper: Manchester DSP, So Saffron, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow
Ink: So Saffron, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Ribbon
Originally, I was just going to use the Kind Words sentiment. Then I re-checked the sketch and realized I needed the sentiment in the corner, so I added the Thanks so much from my last Verve order (BONUS!) and voila.
What do you think? Are you a sentiment as the central image person or an image as the main focal point with sentiment as a secondary?
Last night, I did plan on having my card ready to post for this morning, but I was tired and - get this - went to be at 8:45! Oh my. I must have needed it =) Have a Wonderful Wednesday! I'm getting something done with the mop of hair on my head tonight and I can't wait for a little red-infusion.
I tend to design around the image, with the sentiment secondary. But you've done a great job of highlighting this lovely sentiment. The layout worked out especially well for the Kind Words.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about your focal point is that you have a sentiment and an image in the background and it looks terrific. I've never thought about my sentiment/image focal style before. I tend use whatever works for the sketch. For ex. in your case I probably would have used buttons or bling instead of the second sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Tanis. Love the colours, dp and the sponging around your focal point.
I love this sentiment and love how the little Verve thank-you goes so well....AND I just saw an email from Verve....you are too sweet and generous...it made me smile and get a little teary eyed!! I'm speechless...thank-you so much, Tanny :)
ReplyDeleteOh I am both, lol..... but love sentiments (used to be the motivational coordinator on another group) I love love love quotes and definitely think that a sentiment as the main focal point is so very elegant (not to mention quick). Love it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your card Tanis! And you beat me by five minutes! I hit the sack at 8:50PM! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAs for sentiment vs image as a focal point -- it depends. My own personal favourite is sentiment as the focal...but I tend to make more of the image as a focal point cards for my friends and family.
Tanny, this is beautiful! I love those subtle papers and that elegant feel to this card. I love it just the way it is!!!!
