In preparation for seeing a recently engaged friend, I wanted to make a little Congratulations type card so I pulled up this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #177 and the Color Dare 96, which was Bashful Peachy Greens. My only issue was that I didn't have Peach Parfait, so I substitued what I could only guess to be my closest color - the old In Color - Groovy Guava. I couldn't find a button that suited the middle of my flower to make it pop, so black it was. As an added bonus, I was able to ink up some 'as yet unloved' stamps from the Verve Dream Big set, which I love but wish had dies for the flowers & leaves since I'm lazy!
I even tried two backgrounds to see which photographed better....I think I prefer the black background. Which do you think is the better background?
Thursday I was hoping to get around to making this card, but our trip to the local ski hill for a Discover Snowboarding lesson turned out to be far more fun that I'd imagined and we stayed for a few extra runs before they closed. I was on my butt far less than I'd expected from everything I'd been told (and while I would NEVER say that I'm good, I think I held my own for a newbie!) Now I want to get to the mountains so we can actually go down a hill that will take more than 20 seconds.
Polocrosse today and volunteering for the Hypothermic Half tomorrow. Hoping to get in more crafting time since I've been enjoying it so much lately! Take care and enjoy your Saturday =)

Thanks so much for joining us at the Color Dare, Tanis. You did a great job with the colour comob - that peach was tricky! Fabulous use of the Mojo sketch. Love the touch of ruffled ribbon you added and "happy sigh" for the flower :) Love the picture with the black BG. Makes the card pop wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the snowboarding. I'm a 25 year skiing veteran (35 if you count the last ten years I haven't skied LOL!) and I have never snowboarded. Always wanted an outrigger leg to catch my balance and never got a chance to give it a try. Good on you for tackling it and doing well. Carve a few turns for me :)
What a gorgeous card girl!!! You are so inspirational, both in your stunning papercraft skills as well as your philanthrophic and physical activities!!! You make me want to get out there and do... anything! Hope you can play along with JUGS this week!
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't know if I mentioned it before but the hubby and I are moving back to Canada in Sept!!! I can't wait to be closer to family again!!!! YAY!!!
oh, so much Vervey goodness here :) The black background makes everything pop and look sharp :) I hear ya on the flowers...I'm hoping Julee comes out with some dies for these babies :) Perfect sentiments for a couple :) Yay for more stamping time!!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the black background right away...It highlights your AWESOME card so well! Love that flower and ribbon ruffle. Glad you had fun outside :)
