It's almost D-Day

Well, in my little world, anyways. I write my midterm exam for Financial Accounting tomorrow...yikes! I'm only a month behind. Oh well - at least after I pay for my extension, I should be in good shape and be able to keep up.

How's everyone doing? We ate our way through the middle of the month with our Love is Free Edmonton event and supper at Madison's grill, so on Saturday, as a *fingers crossed* successful exam celebration, we're attending Winefest...three hours of reds, whites, sparkling, ice and ports from around the globe. I'm excited, but first I need to pass my test =)

A few friends and I have decided to try our hand at the 2 day, 185km MS Bike tour (in which, at least two of us will be enjoying the ride on mountain bikes with semi-slick tires). June seems like it's far enough out, but MrP had me worrying that I was biting off more than I could chew on the weekend. That seems to be quite common lately, so as I keep finding myself saying....'we'll see'!

Less than two weeks to go for my 10K run - for which I haven't done any training. Yep - I expect to be half dead on March 14! But that's alright...because on the 20th, I'll head out with my mom to the Dominican Republic for a week of sun & relaxation. Too bad nobody warned me about the insane cost of vaccinations that I had my rude awakening with yesterday. LOL! Seriously - I'm glad I'm not 'caving', as that would require a rabies vaccination - for about $245. I mean, yes, a lot of health plans cover the costs, but I was still surprised when I had a bill for $370, but I guess I won't die of Tetnus/Polio/Diptheria, come back with a case of The Hep...or have the incredibly unenjoyable case of Rangoon Runs (yep - that was the funniest of the names I found for TD, which apparently affects 20-50% of international travellers - and since I have a normally finicky stomach of late, I wasn't taking any chances). Note to self: don't Google vaccinations for anywhere or you'll just convince yourself that you're going to die regardless of what vaccinations you get.

Anyways - just wanted to let y'all know I'm alive and will be around for some blog visiting once my exam is over!!

Join the Sisterhood for some fun - March 17th!

Wow! I thought I was being ignored, but it turns out I just wasn't getting emails because I had some account issues. What a tool!

Anyways, a bunch of the most fabulous ladies I've had the pleasure of stamping with have started a challenge blog and we hope you'll join in the fun!

Check out The Sisterhood of Crafters for the first challenge on Wednesday, March 17th!

For My Valentine

Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #55 looked like a perfect place to start with my anniversary card. Apparently I have no concept of sizing, but whatever - I needed the large circle for the image and I think it worked, so there =)

I used Wild Wasabi and Elegant Eggplant (although I can never get that darn eggplant to show up properly in photos - it always looks really dark - or brown!)

Anyways, I think I managed to get it done without MrP seeing it, so here's hoping it's a nice surprise for our night out.

Yahooooooo!

The Saints won the Superbowl and I made three cards! As a Patriots fan, I was vehemently opposed to the Colts winning (which I'd dreamed earlier in the week, making for a very unhappy morning), but I wore my Pats socks throughout the week and it worked - the Colts lost and Drew Brees and his boys won. YAY!!!!

This card is destined to be my sister's birthday card (which is on the 18th, but I have to ship it out with her gift on Friday when my Mom's heading out to visit her). You can't see the swiss dots on the rose red paper, but I wanted a simple card for her and this seems to have fit the bill. I followed Mercy's MTSC59 and I'm happy with how it turned out. Plus, I got to use some of my new ribbon =)

Whew - it's been a while

And yet, I can't seem to see the light at the end of the busy tunnel!
January was such a gong show, I'm glad to see it gone, but that means I'm still behind in my online course, which I've already pretty much resolved to paying for an extention for despite the number of hours I've put in to try to catch up. I have, however, booked some fun for MrP and I in the month of February.

First up, February 14th we're heading to Love is Free Edmonton, which I'm really looking forward to. It'll be a cooking lesson where MrP and I will get to prepare a four course meal and enjoy some wines from Argentina & Australia with each course of the evening. What could be better than come handmade gourmet chocolates for dessert? This will be followed by some music and dance and a limo ride home! Sounds indulgent...and we can't wait!

On February 27th, we'll head over to the Shaw Conference Center and enjoy Winefest. I think we may come to regret that trip to San Francisco and our wine tasting tour, which introduced us to some flavours that we enjoyed - and then our Kelowna tour where we branched out even further. Now, we're quickly becoming winos! HAHA I guess there's worse ways to relax.

With Valentines Day coming up, we're not usually celebrators of the day, but we do exchange cards and do a nice meal out, so I suppose I'll need to make time for my craft area even if it's just to whip up a card for my favorite gorilla....errr, husband =)

On that note, I promise to be back by Sunday with a post that includes something to look at. All those new Verve and TE stamps are sitting sorely neglected and I should be flogged with wet ribbons...I know.

Enjoy your Thursday!
