Some Christmas Wishes

This card is on it's way to some family now, but I was having some fun on the weekend with crafting and made this card using Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #103 as the basis. Her sketch was actually square, but I just adjusted so I could fit in a traditional envelope.

I should've added some shimmer to the embossed chocolate chip layer and some bling beside the sentiment, but it's already on it's way East, so too bad for me =)

I had a fabulous weekend with some Christmas celebration, some volunteering, some crafting and some time with MrP. I was up ridiculously early this morning (3:30), so I finished the treat bags I wanted to make for the girls at my barn, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be needing a nap when I get home from work!

A whole lotta colors for my first CC Color Challenge!

It's been a while since I played along with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and I made time to play along with MTSC84 this week! I also incorporated the Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 40 since my friend Marisa is one of the DT and I'm always blown away by her creations.

The color combo, I thought, would work for my coworker who's last day is Friday. When I finished, I had my doubts as to whether the card was too girly, but MrP assured me that he honestly didn't think so, even with the sparkley fluff on the
flower, so off it goes.

I used my new Verve set Always on My Mind and the sentiment fits since he's leaving to do the work he's been training to do for 30 years instead of half-settling, which I'm glad to see - for him, but sad for me since we worked so closely.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Stamps: Verve Always on My Mind
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red Textured, Kiwi Kiss & Tempting Turquoise
Ink: Real Red, Kiwi Kiss & Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Spots & Dots EF, Red Rhinestones, Nestabilities, Paper Piercer, Sparkley Fluff in Cherry, Glue Stick

How's she goin'?

It's my turn as host over at The Sisterhood of Crafters today and I hope you'll join in our manly challenge - because I'm offering up a $5 gift certificate to FireCracker Designs in hopes that you'll be able to snag yourself some of these fun images by Bonibleaux Designs....that's right - our very own Boni Boutelle-Jones!

It's been a while since I colored a digi - like a week! Wait - it's been a week since I had such fun creating my last Sisterhood challenge card and I haven't been able to find much time to craft. Between landscaping, falling off the horse, household chores and everything else. Wait - you noticed that falling business, hey?! I may have failed to mention that to MrP, who finds my horse jumping a little unnerving. It's the first fall I've had in the year and a half that I've been taking lessons at my barn, though, so I'm figuring it was about time. Anyways, a few bumps & bruises, but nothing a visit to the chiropractor and massage therapist won't improve. My goal is to get more stamping time, but the summer sure is quickly zipping by.

I made this card for a friend who's been feeling under the weather and the sentiment inside says "Feel Better Soon". We always make hillbilly jokes so it seemed fitting - as soon as I saw the image, I knew who I wanted to make the card for. I loosely based it on Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge (#82) for this week.

Stamps: Bonibleaux Designs Hillbilly Straw
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, More Mustard, DP
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Twine, Eyelet, Nestabilities, computer generated sentiment

Be sure to check out what the other ladies have done over at the Sisterhood. Then give a manly card a shot for a little winning potential!

I'm a week late

with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #75, that is! But it seemed like a great starting point for this week's Sisterhood challenge since I created it on Sunday for my brother in law's birthday.

We booked our hotel for NYC yesterday and I'm pumped! That was one of the last "must do" items before the trip....now it's all entertainment & restaurant reservations from here on in. Based on a friend's recommendation, we're staying at the Wyndham Garden Times Square.
Now if only I could feel as confident about my bike tour on June 12th & 13th and my Financial Accounting final exam on June 25th. HAHAHA!
Have a great Wednesday.

Yahooooooo!

The Saints won the Superbowl and I made three cards! As a Patriots fan, I was vehemently opposed to the Colts winning (which I'd dreamed earlier in the week, making for a very unhappy morning), but I wore my Pats socks throughout the week and it worked - the Colts lost and Drew Brees and his boys won. YAY!!!!

This card is destined to be my sister's birthday card (which is on the 18th, but I have to ship it out with her gift on Friday when my Mom's heading out to visit her). You can't see the swiss dots on the rose red paper, but I wanted a simple card for her and this seems to have fit the bill. I followed Mercy's MTSC59 and I'm happy with how it turned out. Plus, I got to use some of my new ribbon =)

A Non-Traditional Christmas

I'm so far behind when it comes to Christmas cards that I'm starting to think I might be in the lead. If only it wasn't just over a week until Christmas! LOL
At any rate, I just got some new stamps and I've been (I can't believe this) too busy to even play. Seriously!

These new Little Loud Christmas Freckle collection stamps from Paperworks Co are fabulous - so cute and colorable (now if only I had time to get my watercoloring skills up...)

I used Mercy's Sketch #51 for a fairly quick & easy, non-traditional winter card. The matching sentiment inside says "Sending you Christmas Wishes".

I'm so sorry I haven't been around the blogs much either - I really will catch up one of these days. Can you believe my work actually expects me to work while I'm there?! HAHA
Hope you're staying warm in these frosty temperatures we've been having.

Mojo? Hello?

Having just received my Roots & Wings add on set from Renaissance By Design, I inked up my newest stamps in hopes of getting some semblance of a stamping mojo. I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #47 as a starting place and two colors that I've never combined in recent memory - Close to Cocoa and Ruby Red.

Can you believe I've had four days off and have only stamped twice?! I'm seriously lacking in the creativity department, so today, I'm off to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3D with my friend's son. His Mom is in NYC right now, so while I'm sure his Dad's enjoying his company, I'm hoping J will enjoy hanging out with me for a bit.

Tonight, A Chorus Line with friends at the Jubilee Auditorium. I can't wait! Hopefully that means tomorrow I'll actually be inspired to stamp and clean up the disaster known as my craft area since Chelsey's here on Tuesday for our craft night!

Love-filled Wednesday

I created this card for Chelsey & K-Dawg's Anniversary, which was yesterday. And since I'm a terrible friend, I'm posting today, even though she doesn't have it yet. LOL!

Stamps: Beautiful Life
Paper: Sahara Sand, Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Blue Bayou DSP
Ink: Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Blue Bayou Ribbon, Half Pearls, Dimensionals, Nestabilities

This card used Mercy's Sketch 46 and a sentiment from Beautiful Life, which I've used on another anniversary card this week that I'm just waiting to arrive at it's destination. *Hey, RB*

Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

Bigsby meets Mercy's Sketch

Have you met Bigsby? Karen Johnson drew this adorable little rodent and my blog candy winner, Dawn, happened to send me a copy to play with. I can't wait to see what else Karen will have in her store since Bigsby was such fun to color!

Here, I used him with some Riding Hood Red and Old Olive, along with some Hand Drawn DSP to complete my take on Mercy's sketch MTSC43.

Today, I'm off to the Edmonton Women's Show with my mom for the afternoon and then the Oil Kings (Jr Hockey) tonight. Should be a good day....and tomorrow's Football Sunday!

Thanks for checking out today's rubbish....have a wonderful day!

Mercy's Sketch uses Unfaves

Well, not quite "unfaves" but colors that I don't seem to usually use. Like Apricot Appeal, Lavender Lace (which I actually had to look up to see if it was an in color from a while back or what since it was WAY at the back of my soft colors) and Sage Shadow (which I love, but don't use nearly enough).

The image I used is a sweet Pixie that my friend Susie had stamped for me, so I colored her with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol. Pretty simple card - for a friend =) I used Mercy's Tueday Sketch Challenge #42 for the sketch. She's always got awesome sketches and I LOVE the colors she uses for them. Red, black & white is always so gorgeous that I have to really work at not just creating a card that color every week!

I'm all trained up! My first aid is now current again and I'm hoping I never have to use any of that training. It's reassuring to know that I could, but I'd prefer to not have it every be necessary.

And yay for my last day of work this week. Lots to do this weekend and I'm looking forward to it! Maybe I'll even get a chance to start on some reading for my Financial Accounting online course that I start November 1st. YIKES!

Check back later for the winner of my blog candy from Friday's Digital-Ink Co Blog Hop. The snow has me a little delayed - that's right. We have snow. Thankfully, it doesn't look like it'll stick around long, but...ugh!

Mercy's Sketch goes to Baja

This card was created using Mercy's Sketch MTSC41, which was another fabulous long & skinny card this week. I needed to do a card for my favorite sister in law's birthday (which is today!) and blue happens to be a fave color of hers, so I hope she likes it. I used one of the awesome sentiments from the Verve Beautiful You set, which has so many great quotes...I just love it!

Stamps: Verve Beautiful You
Paper: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, White, Green Tea DSP
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Dimensionals, Button, Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Scallop Punch

Our stock car driving was a blast! Here's a couple shots of me before my driving experience =)

Have a wonderful day!

Don't forget to stop by my post from Friday, which features a chance to win some Digital-Ink Co money and some rubber stamps...just by leaving a comment, telling me if you've ever used digital stamps. Yep - it's that easy! Draw will be made on October 8th!

Am I allowed

to say I LOVE THIS CARD?! Well, I did, so there's no taking it back now. I love this card. I love the stamps. I love the dimension. I had a blast with it and I'm not going to deny it any longer!

Stamps: Verve Party Time
Paper: White, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, So Saffron, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, So Saffron
Accessories: Real Red Ribbon, Dimensionals, Corner Rounder Punch
Techniques: Paper Tole

My newest Verve order arrived while I was in Banff and this was the first chance I'd had to ink up these awesome little balloons from Party Time. I used the SCS Color Challenge 138, which was Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and So Saffron, along with Mercy's Sketch 40. She's always got great sketches and this one was no exception.

I've really been loving the paper tole since I tried it for Dawn's Challenge on the Taylored Expressions 2nd Birthday Bash, so I had to use it for this set. The red ballon & tricolor balloon were both colored a second time and layered. The tricolor balloon was then colored a third time and layered - such fun!

Here's one more of the layers.....because....I love this card!

Okay - so you know what I think....what do YOU think? Ever have one of those cards that just "works" for you?

Mercy's Sketch(es)

This was my submission for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #37, which I was a little late in getting to last week (as in I did it on the weekend!)

Ink: So Saffron, Wild Wasabi

The Spruce Meadows Masters is wrapping up today and I've had such a blast with my Aunt & Grandma. What a fun event - can't wait to come again next year!
