Polka Dots Challenge

I was a little slow on the challenge this week - I completed it at 4:30 this morning! Preparing Treat Exchange Invites, I went with this lovely Basic Grey Wassail paper that I purchased last year. Three different nesties, a button and to help closure and these were done! So easy peasy and quick to assemble for the 10 attendees.

Opened up! I just need to get my finishing touches inside the card with the details for the December 6th event. Chelsey & I attended a treat exchange six years ago and while we enjoyed the actual exchange, the treats were not of a quality that I wanted to repeat my attendance at the event (think pillsbury cookie dough, raw, as 'truffles'), so we chose to host our own! This is now our fifth year....tough to believe it's been that long. Mind you, MrP always makes a heck of a meal for us, so I continue to host =)

I'm so grateful for all of the people who continue to make this such a successful event. I only hope we can continue to keep it going!

Happy Wednesday, friends =)

TESC86 because you're beary special

I just LOVE this set! The images are adorable and the sentiments have wonderful fonts. They're great for cards for young or old. Who doesn't want to cuddle a sweet teddy bear? Or puppy? Or monkey?!

I used the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #86 for this card and a color that TERRIFIES me....Pacific Point. Looking at it now, I think it could use a little bit of white craft ink background, but I'm just happy to have given this color a chance =)

Stamps: Taylored Expressions Beary Special
Paper: Soft Sky, Pacific Point, White
Ink: Pacific Point
Accessories: White Brads, Dimensionals
Technique: Paper Piecing

Enjoy your Thursday - becuase it's almost Friday and in my books (as well as Martha's, I'm sure)....that's a good thing!

For My Favorite Monkey

I made this card for Taylored Expressions' World Card Making Day Challenge, using Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 38.

Stamps: TE Beary Special
Paper: White, Cameo Coral, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel DSP, Ski Slope DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Sage Shadow, Kraft
Accessories: Paper Piercer, Brown Ribbon
Techniques: Paper Piecing, Fauz Stitching

I'm so pumped to be going to my first Oilers game tonight. Well, not quite the first, but I haven't been to a game since the 2006-2007 season, so it'll be a great time. I used to go to 10-20 games a year when I worked at my old company and besides the people, that's the one thing I really do miss.
It's against the Dallas stars, but here's hoping there's some magic in the rink tonight....I haven't seen us beat Dallas in the dozen games I've watched the match up.
I gave this card to my favorite monkey yesterday and he loved it. Always my biggest fan. I can't wait to celebrate our third anniversary in Banff at the end of the month!

One final note - don't forget to enter for your chance at a $10 Digital-Ink Co gift certificate and a rubber stamp set...draw ends on Thursday!

Have a fabulous Tuesday. I'm off to freshen up on my First Aid training. Ugh....two days of training. Thank goodness I have something to look forward to tonight because today is going to be LONG.

TESC84 with a Beary Special Friend

And I paper pieced!!

I really loved the sketch Taylor had done up for TESC84 and since my new Beary Special set just arrived, I had to use it.

Donna at Serenity in Stamping, who happens to be a part of the Baker's Dozen and Sketch Challenge team at Taylored Expressions, is always inspiring me with her awesome paper piecing, but the technique truly terrified me. Well, how can you be scared of something when it is done with this sweet bear? I finally did it. I paper pieced - and I enjoyed it. Between paper piecing and paper tole, I might actually get some of my paper used up...one day.

Stamps: TE Beary Special
Paper: Real Red, Bashful Blue, Summer Picnic DSP, Maine Blueberry DSP
Ink: Real Red
Accessories: Real Red Ribbon
Technique: Paper Piecing
